Let me preface this by saying that the town I live in is more what some might refer to as "rural".  That is not to say that it is isolated.  Not at all.  More a matter of it being far enough away from city life that it can be thought of as the countryside, but still very close to small cities and population centers, and major transportation hubs.

Still, I can honestly say that it's quite rare for me to see individuals who would be recognized as being disposed toward the gothic lifestyle.  Years ago, when films like The Crow, and the Underworld series were in the public consciousness, the gothic movement was in full swing, if not as a state of mind, then as a fashion statement at least (which I am really fine with, as it appeals to the artist in me), but here where the population is thinner, and there are simply less of any given "type" of individual per square mile, the most likely way to encounter other goths is not on the streets of your home town, but on social media of one kind or another.

That being said, many would simply recommend seeking out the small gothic communities of urban areas nearby, but the choking confines of the concrete jungle are not for everyone, and I prefer the fresh air and lushness of the countryside, and can't help but think that there must be others that feel the same way.
