i'm not sure myself, i don't think it is but sometimes if you really listen to the voices and lyrics deeply, it can sound quite evil!

Some people judge goths as devil-worshippers, some nasty people have made comments to me about like being a witch and goin to hell! they don't know what they're talking about anyway....
But can any goth honestly say they worship satan?
Damn STEREOTYPES, thats what they are!!!! I am a Devil worshipping Goth but that doesnt mean that ALL Goth music is Devil related!!!! Whoever says ''your going to hell'' is an IDIOT! Those people are stupid stereotypes and deserve to be whipped and i raise my claw to volunteer.

i think some people are just tripping. just cuz u or i or anyone on this web site listens to gothic,death metal,acid,ect ect. dont mean we are evil people. the person or people that accuse you of those things are just ignerant. be for i quit that whole going to church thing people said i was a satan est cuz i collect and like skull stuff metal music and evil dark looking shit. dont worrie or listen to those quacks.
Joking aside, there are reasons for this ongoing religious war against metal, gothic, punk, and all the other genres on the darker side of the spectrum. The church loves sheep, whereas most of the people who discover and enjoy this type of music tend to be free thinkers. Music is an incredibly potent method for spreading a message, and the message of individualism is one that scares and threatens organized religion. Generally, I would say that anyone can enjoy these types of music, but you don't see very many people who listen to death rock or black metal while remaining part of the herd. Instead, you find people free from the shackles of organized religion (not referring to spirituality) and of society's accepted norms and expectations.
No goth music isn't devil music. Some goth music is sung by cristians jews and other religous people. Goth and Satanism are two totally different things and should not be commonly associated even though some goths are satanists others aren't.
Anyways back to what i was saying basically goth music isnt devil music some thrash metal is however eg. gorgoroath.
Goths are so diverse and listen to so many different types of music so it's impossible to say ALL goth music is devil music - though there are definitely some out here who do prefer Death Metal which often deals with satanic subjects - tongue firmly in cheek more often than not.
You don't say what bands in particular you listen to for people to question your choices.

There are different kinds of goth music. If you want an idea of why I say goth music isn't 'evil' just listen to Sophia by the Cruxshadows. Or any of several of VNV Nation's songs. @.@
It is the misconception since people that do not know any better associate Goth with Death Rock and Black Metal. A few of the marines I work with have asked me the difference and I had to sit down and show them. Thankfully for my external harddrive have a large selection of goth and industrial music they now have a pseudo understanding.
only if its intended to be, there are alot of christian bands or even death metal bands that arnt satanic in anyway, sound isnt what makes it devil music tho arguably most are played with the notorious devil's key (of tune suposedly evil note) but you must find the intent of the band weather they mean it to be devils music or just another form of art / entertainment
Only you can decide if you think it is or not. Me personally, I don't see how it is. Does some of the music ever tell you to go out and do a human sacrifice and you feel like you have to do it because something is controlling you to? More than likely not. You make your own perspectives out of what you hear in the lyrics and the actual music.
