hehe I LOVE NIGHTWISH. and you are right bout finnish bands! have a friend from finland that send me all the new stuff that comes out over there.. now if only i could move there :P

well i went to their concert 1 week ago, its the second time that i see them playing live, and honestly i only like the wishmaser album, and some other songs from other albums
but certainly finnish bands are always good

Cool, that's great. you are right about that, Finnish bands are great.

I was lucky this year to get to the Tuska festival in Finland where there were many bands playin one was Nightwish and they were really good. Finnish stuff i really like such as Charon (check em out)
In flames were pretty cool too

Nightwish is great, amazing vocals.
It's funny to read that you all kwow Within Temptation and the Gathering. ( i'm from Holland ) So, it's great to see their names on this forum.

like 6 years ago was wishmaster.i was amazed by tarja how she sings and the music classic, power
and the last album once they grew a lot especial when they bring the new bassist
marco.his duetto with tarja like phantom of the opera
song is magic.
marco also has agroup called 'tarot' they been out for a while
nightwish grew slowly that how should a metal band has to be.even when they had success with century child album .they experimented the new album in a way i couldn't imagine.i didn't see them live yet but i have advd live they bring up great light show

Nightwish rule! Liked them for quite a while now. We call it "Goth Opera" or occasionally "High Goth" around here, by the way.

On a related note, perhaps a gig/band tracker forum would be a useful addition and ought to be suggested to the site operators here?

I am very glad that Nightwish has better recording quality. Tarja has become such a better singer. I enjoyed her old songs, but her voice now is so much nicer. I saw them play when they were in the states and she has such a beautiful perfoming voice. I wasn't dissapointed at all, it made me like them all the more. It is sad when you see a band live and they disappoint.

DarkLegend, you've really hit the nail on the head there. I think a lot of people in the UK would love to get on well with the Americans, more tourists go from the UK to the USA than from any other country, but we do have it spat back in our face by Americans, a lot.

I think I like Nightwish and The Gathering equally.. but I do like to hear the Gathering a little more often.

Nightwish is pretty good...i saw them when they played the states...they put on a great show..and having such a hot singer doesnt hurt either. I much at admit however that i like the Gathering a little more

Nightwish is on Roadrunnerrecords label. go to thier website, it may have some info thier, or you may find a link to the bands homepage. Or, try searching for an official band homepage, they usually list world tour dates at those places.
Click on tours at roadrunnerrecords, and theres a list of bands, search for nightwish, I believe they have a couple dates left in canada.

I seem to have a real nack of missing gigs. I was in Belgium for the recent cancelled 'Within Temptation' gig and met a couple of the band members in a goth bar, and they were surprised I had missed their La Scala performance in London in September and now I realise I have missed 'Nightwish' in Nottingham, which is a drivable distance for me to see a good band.

I put out a plea for people to put out an alert when good (or even mediocre) goth bands are playing.

I search the internet for news, but seem to find it easier to find out what gigs are going on on the continent than in the UK. Often the webpages I hit are up to three years old. I try places like NetGoth and that, but maybe I am just looking in the wrong places.

Can anyone recommend a reliable place for seeing upcoming goth gigs in the UK?

A comedian explained it best, so that I finally understood why so much of the world hates America(n's). He said, "if you worked with a guy who came in to the office every day, and said, " I am the baddest mother fucker here, and all of YOU guys suck, compared to ME!" By the end of a week, you would KILL HIM!" This is what America does to the rest of tht world everyday. I guess we do kind of do that. : )

ABOUT TIME ppl started recognising NIGHTWISH,
i heard one of their first albums when it was released in germany,
(i'm from the uk)
it was about 6 years ago...
and been trying to get the albums over here for a long long time,
i went to see them at rock city in nottingham where i live, "FOOKING AWSOME"(and got my ticket sighned)
I CAN HIGHLY RECOMEND THE ONCE ALBUM,
especialy mary blood creek and definately planet hell,
if you like classical music AND you like metal, listen to planet hell (track 4 on once)
bare with it till the heavy bit.. lol (just after the time change to 7/4 lol)
anyway, i'll leave you all to hunt them tracks down,

buy their albums they deserve the money, it quality!
