Mine would have to be the trio of Disposition, Reflection, and Triad. Although Lateralus isn't my favorite Tool album, these 3 tracks are an excellent example of the direction in which Tool is taking music. Spacey, indepth, psychadelic, call it what you like, I think its incredible. The bassline in Reflection (Yes, I am a bassist) is excellent, although it does not show Chancellor's true ability.
Anyone else have a favorite Tool song?
Sober and Schism. Schism because I remember watching the video and thinking "What the **** did I just watch. Sober, because I remember laughing at "I am just an imbecile."
the mood of h. & lyrics of aenima sweep me away & take me to another place. a better safer place in my mind. thank u for a little peace in a world gone mad.
TOOL is my favorite band, and I've seen them five times already, the sixth coming up! (That's one more, so far, than Primus/Claypool, who was my savior for a time). Now I have seen the light, and know in my heart that only Maynard rules.
Tool is the only band since Black Sabbath that I exonerate all of the musicians. The only difference is that there are a handful of Sabbath songs that I'm not wild about. Tool can do no wrong in my eyes. From beginning to end, they just tear it up. My life has been so enriched by their art that I'm at a loss for words to fully express my feelings.
There's no way for me to pick a favorite without feeling like I'm betraying my best friend. In no particular order, I'll choose:
Sweat, Hush, ALL of Undertow, Stinkfist, 46 & 2, H, Jimmy, Push It, Third Eye, all of Salival, Parabola, Schism, all of 10,000 Days (a true masterpiece and fine parting work). :(
I can hardly believe that they're retiring after this. My fiance and brother will be seeing them for the first time. It's so sad...
The only band that has been in the same class as Tool on stage for me has been Pink Floyd. I've seen at least 100 shows, but Tool has always impressed me.
The last time I caught them, they did some Jazz drumming with a kid who absolutely TORE IT UP like Neil Peart from Rush.
