The Yellow Wallpaper - Charlotte Perkins Gilman quite possibly the most thought provoking short story I have ever read.

Not too turn this thread into a SK-heavy one, but acutally the first book of his I read was Insomnia, and it's pretty damn good. I'm currently trying to read it in German.

I will confess a soft spot for Chrichton, though, and as such point out "Prey" by him, or "Rising Sun".

Also, if you just want a very tasty nibble, check out H.P. Lovecraft, especially "The Picture in The House." Kick ass short story.

Have you read The Long Walk by Stephen King. Starts out slow but oh, so good!

By the way, nice pic.
