chuck the iceman liddell
randy the natural couture
ken shamrock i have gloves sighed by him.
brock lesnar
shane carwin
they are some of the best fighters i have ever seen, hey and if you people ever get a chance and go to my channel its slaveoftheheavymetal and watch some of my amuter fights tell me what you think leave some comments. oh and by the way i'm the big dude in all black vincent"the boss"lopez.
Of course the original champion of the UFC KEN "LIONHEART SHAMROCK"
also Andrei Arlovski and Randy Couture each kick some serious ass. I actually don't like Royce Gracie or any Gracie for that matter I find them all to be far too full of themselves and not enough caught up with the times. I do respect their accomplishments buit you also have to look at this fgact that most the guys Royce beat early on especially the really big strong guys weren't well rounded or very well trained, like there is a serious reason he didn't stand much of a chance agaisnt Matt Hughes.
I agree pride has got far better rules than the ufc and mostly better fighters maybe because the paychecks in pride are soo good I think it would be a classic rematch between royce gracie and hidehiko yoshida with royce gracie coming out the victor after all he beat him convincingly it was only a draw because they went to the time limit I havnt seen any 2005 stuff yet only because most pride dvds cost soo much when they first come out
I prefer Pride because they allow kicks/stomps/knees to the head of a downed opponent, unlike UFC, for example. The rules are better.
As for favorite fighters...Mauricio "Shogun" Rua is definitely one of the best, if not the best middle weight in the world right now. Just look at his matches against Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, Vitor Belfort, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, Alistair Overeem, Ricardo Arona...hell, pretty much any fight of his. They guy has such a great way of combining muay thai to bjj that it's just a pleasure to watch him fight. He's especially skillfull with the use of knees from the clinch and, of course, stomps on a downed opponent; his accurace is the best I've ever seen in the ring.
Other two greats of the moment are current Pride heavy weight title holder, Fedor Emelianenko and the second ranked Mirco Crocop Filipovic. Their final fight was pretty nice although Fedor was clearly more well-rounded. Mirco did eliminate Fedors ground and pound very well though. Still, Fedor is such a versatile fighter that I doubt he'll be won any time soon.
It'll be great to see Royce Gracie go up against Hidehiko Yoshida in the next Pride as they fought a draw in 2003. Yoshida's gotten a lot better since then though; he's fight with Silva was nothing short of a spectacle. Still I'm sure Royce will give him a run for his money even though I'm betting on Yoshida.
ok, my impression: what i saw was the welter-weight tourney. quality fighters all, many japs, but who caught my eye was an american called henderson; allround ok, but with vicious, hard-hitting punches. really enjoyed his style. also my countryman; joachim nilsen. perhaps a bit too defensive, but able to hold his own against anybody, and advanced to the semis. good commentaries and most encounters were evenly-matched. most of the fighting was on the ground.
bushido is a offshoot of pride and is really good from what ive seen ive only got vol1 look out for a guy calledMIRKO"cro cop"FILIPOVIV from croatia he has got some serious knock out power out of about 10 of his fights ive seen he knocks the guy out with kicks to the head every time but 1 let me know what you thought of the 2005 bushido
prides where its at heaps of great fighters have left the ufc for pride like gary goodridge, don frye, mark coleman, kevin randleman and all the gracies fight in pride ken shamrock went from the ufc to pride then back to the ufc where he got slayed by tito ortiz back to pride then the ufc again where he slayed kimo UFC brought one of there best fighters chuck liddell to pride and put up $250000 for him to win a tournament there but he only made it to the 2nd round where he got wiped out convincingly.go to the buduvideos site and check out all the videos/dvds at great prices you will be amazed
When I started watching UFC, Royce Gracie was setting the standard, and I naturally got very impressed with him. Also I like Shamrock. He got agility, stamina, technique, tenacity and he's a really nice guy too. A true sportsman. Pride, I haven't seen really. It's good you say?
