Live chat
28 Views          06/26/11
After stumbling into the live chat room and seeing it's mainly dead, I clicked on the show recent messages button and there does seem to be sporadic signs of life out there.

For any of the paying members who happen to check out this blog and have been on the live chat I just thought I'd let you know that non paying members cannot talk in the main chat and cannot start one to one conversations on there. Probably explains why it seems like not many are talking.

If it's still like it was when I last chatted on there a paying member can instigate a one on one convo if they click on the username of the person. Maybe someone can confirm if this is still true?

"walks out into the circle" My name is Wolfsbane and I'm a fan of the Gipsy Kings version of the song hotel California. Can't stop my feet from tapping when I listen to it.

Also a big fan of Rodrigo y Gabriela. Must be something about the Mexican guitar sound that makes me want to take up dancing lol.

If only I did'nt have two left feet and bad balance. If you're going to be my partner, bring your steel toe capped boots :D

Tales of mere existence.
15 Views          09/16/10
I was wondering if anyone had seen these animated comics before?

I've watched them on a certain video site that I can'nt mention and personally I think they're great. They are very simple, just drawings onto what looks like tracing paper and a narration from the creator Levni Yilmaz on all sorts of his life experiences and situations that many people can relate to.

If you've never seen them and are curious search for "tales of mere existence" and I'm sure you'll find them.

Hello this is tech support, how can I not help you today?
34 Views          08/16/10
Why is it that getting help with a problem is so damn hard these days?

Why do all the call centres have to be in places with the most hard to understand accents?

Why do most tech support people seem to be totally clueless and just reading off pre written responses usually asking you to do 5 things you've already done before?

Why do they never phone back?

How can people be so inept at their jobs?

I'm a pretty calm person but it's SOOOOOOOOOOOOO INFURIATING!

Strange smell round here.
38 Views          06/17/10
Recently in the garden there's been a horrible smell wafting about. I was thinking either the drains had backed up or Noodles had left a pair of his dirty socks somewhere. It turned out to be that the previous owners have planted a strange, alien like plant in the garden that wafts the horrible smell around when it flowers to attract flies for pollination. I found out this plant is rather aptly named considering the smell, a corpse flower. They can grow huge and some only flower for a couple of days every ten years.

Our one seems to be a long green stem that's opened up at the top with big purple leaves and a long stork part and it drives the flies crazy, they love it.

I don't have a pic of it but here's a pic of a different one to give you some idea what it's like. I think you'll agree it's one strange plant, kinda like something from the day of the triffids.

My one evil hair.
33 Views          03/29/10
So I'm a blonde, I always have been. Why is it then, that the very first hair that grows right at the front of my head always grows thick, wiry and jet black?

I have a theory that it's an evil hair that if left unplucked will go on to make me do evil deeds while I'm asleep. I'm off to get the tweezers and get rid of it just incase. He'll be back though, he always is.

Brittany Murphy (Nov 10, 1977- Dec 20, 2009)

I was shocked to read about her death this morning. I remember her from Clueless and more recently sin city and always thought she was a good actress. She had a great ability to bring wild and crazy but also cute, funny and loveable to the same role but could also handle the more serious roles well too. She had a strong screen presence and always stood out in whatever film she was in.

Ghost in the machine.

So my pc speakers decided to die. Simple I thought, get some new ones, so I headed out and bought a similar set of 2.1 speakers and woofer to replace them. After getting home and unboxing them from the rediculous amount of plastic and foam everything seems to come in these days I connected them up and turned on the power. Here's where the strange part comes in.

With the power to the speakers on but with the volume off and the pc itself off, the speakers were picking up what sounded like people talking and then what sounded like jazz music. Thinking I had gone mad overnight or was picking up signals from the other side I consulted the internet.

Seems that sometimes if the speakers don't have enough of a certain kind of shielding, the wiring can act as a radio antenna and you pick up signals. Reminds me of the stories where people were hearing radio stations through the fillings in their teeth.

Needless to say I headed back to the shops and changed those speakers for different ones, all is well now. In this case Logitech fails, Sony ftw!

A days gardening
26 Views          07/26/09
So the fences in the new place are all falling down and would'nt you know it, there's a big hole in one at the end, straight into an alley at the end of the garden. Just right for burglars to gain access me thinks, so I spent my Sunday chopping the tree down that was infront of the fence so I could get a better look see.

Cutting my hand open on a nearby rosebush and cutting many thick branches with a hand saw which is tiring to say the least were the worst moments. Having a bit of luck with which way the larger sections of trunk falls helped, managed not to squash myself or anything else (my Grandfather was killed in a tree felling accident).

The tool that made all this possible without the use of a ladder was a telescopic pruner that extends out 2 metres with some shears (operated by a rope) and a saw blade at the end. I found it a joy to use and was slightly turned on by the smoothness of the lever and pully action on the shears hahaha.

Anyways, I fully endorse that product and if you're ever in need of a device to trim a tall tree, it has the Wolfsbane stamp of approval. Just watch out for falling branches and stay safe, if you are'nt sure you can do it, get a professional in. They cost a fortune, but better poor than dead I guess.

The new house (Handymans dream).
19 Views          07/16/09
Moved into the new place a couple of weeks back and it seems like I've been up a ladder with some kind of tool in my hand ever since. How the hell can people do such a crap job of doing up/maintaining their house?

Being a bit of a perfectionist is a curse in a house where it's best not to look too close at things. The bathroom door has dropped so you can't close it properly (Hard to relax in the bath when someone could come bursting in lol). Then there's the way if you sit in the bath you can't get up again as the sides are too rounded you just slip (Was stuck in there for a few minutes till I figured out how to escape and had to tell my Dad how I escaped when he got stuck in there later on lol). The roof on the lean to next to the kitchen leaks and has leaked for so long it's rotted half way through a wooden beam. You can have hot water but it's plumbed so you have to have the towel rail radiator in the bathroom on aswell so on hot days it's like a million degrees in there. They hammered a huge nail into the wall in my bedroom to hang a picture up and somehow managed to make the plaster crack up the wall and across the ceiling. Best of all, I finally got my beloved internet connection set up here today to find that it should be giving me at least 5mb connection speed but is actually giving me 384kb (Stone age man got faster connection). Only other phone socket to try it in is the one in the kitchen downstairs, but not sure having my desktop in there is such a hot idea lol. Guess I'll have to get someone out to re-run the cables.

The list of things to do will no doubt get longer the more I look around so wish me luck, either that or come over and poke me in the eye or find another way to distract me so I don't see anything new.

Scissors?
36 Views          12/28/08
Now seriously, what the f*%k is going on with scissors? Why is it that they only work properly in your right hand?

In my right hand they are a mighty tool for cutting paper and keeping my left hand's finger nails in check. In my left hand they seem to be a tool for creasing said paper and bending the right hand's fingernail's.

To my naked eye I can see no reason why they become so inefficient from just swapping hands. You're still closing the same two arms against each other. They work perfectly right handed if I use them either way up or even back to front so I should be able to use them properly in my left, right?

What is it about Christmas that put's me in a grumpy mood? In the last month I've isolated myself from everybody, can't sleep and have'nt eaten much at all for the last couple weeks.

Christmas seems to be either a really happy time for people or the most lonesome depressing time of year. Surely I can't be the only Scrooge out there?

Machine Curse.
54 Views          11/10/08
After my Pc sounding like a cement mixer then going quiet only to be told not to use it as the power supply fan had given up the will to live I got to thinking. Is it just me or is anybody else unlucky with machines?

Does anybody else ever get that moment when something has gone wrong with one of your gadgets and just as you phone up to report the problem it stops? I've pulled up on the garage forecourt many a time with a car problem that I've had for weeks to find that as soon as the mechanic starts it, it's fine. Making me look like a complete twat lol.

Sods law? Something more sinister? Or just one of those it happens to everybody moments?
