Greed is the inordinate desire to possess wealth, goods, or objects of abstract value with the intention to keep it for one's self, far beyond the dictates of basic survival and comfort. It is applied to a markedly high desire for and pursuit of wealth, status, and power.- WP

Not including those that grew up with $$$...Because those guys are usually accustomed to having but some of us grew up poor and didn't have much and so we either go TWO ways:

1.  We become VERY greedy when we grow up due to the fact that we didn't have much

2.  We become rather bohemian about it and understand that material things are nice but inner peace and sweetness mean more

I see it all the time as friends I have fight to see who has the bigger TV, bigger house, bigger truck etc...I've also seen them crash lose their house, trade in their trucks for tiny commuters and accept bankruptcy as their only saving grace.

I look around and even though we are the most technologically advance generation with SOOOO much info at our fingertips with in seconds we can find out anything about ANY subject we are also the most self obsessed when it comes to trivial things and bling bling.

Now do I like nice things?...Sure we all do...But there seems to be a selfish componant to greed because it's not about having and sharing...It's about having and NOT sharing BUT showing it off that makes the difference...I'm like anyone else, I want a big house or money in the bank but it's to share with friends, families and fat dogs/cats...Dinners and movie nights and cocktail/BBQs parties...Silly fun things.

I recently had some dealing with those I would consider very rich and I was shocked at the lack of manners and an almost misery feel to them...Maybe that's why they're rich?...Tightness of their wallets even to THEMSELVES...Which I found kinda sad...Because you can't take it with you.

Just found out a friends husband just died 3 days ago...They had many homes in 3 countries, they made an outrageous amount of money, but they were both working say 25 days out of the month...Singles/double to the point of breaking...He had an aneurysm and that's all she wrote.

I'm not saying he spend it on strippers, coke and good whiskey...But f*ck working like 40 shifts in 30 days just so you can have a fat paycheck every month for years...Life is ment to be enjoyed not squandered...I have a feeling my friend will end up losing or letting go of 2-3 of the homes to make it easy on herself...Meaning all the money she stuck in them will have been lost...Greed it eats up everything.

Time is coming in the US that will change how we look at being happy...Won't be the big truck, the huge house, the most expensive sunglasses/bag etc but it will be the little things and the friends you have...So I'm going to downsize...I have too much crap and need to focus not on having much but having a small amount of amazing things...Who needs ten pens when ONE really nice one will do...Who needs four messenger bags when ONE awesome one should be my goal.

It's time for everyone to downsize, give away, sell, throw away that which keeps you cluttered and trapped...Things that have been in the closet for more than a year and never worn...Things bought on a whim and never utilized...Man are Americans hoarders.
